BMW 501/8 Baroque Angel – 2.6 V8 – 1956

A rare opportunity to acquire one of BMW’s early post-war luxury sedans, the elegant BMW 501/8, also known as the “Baroque Angel.” This example is powered by a 2.6-liter V8 engine producing around 100 hp, offering a smooth and characteristic driving experience that marked BMW’s return to prestige automobiles in the 1950s.

The car was purchased new in Munich in the summer of 1956 by a Finnish gentleman from Tornio and remained in the same family for three generations. This continuous provenance makes it a truly special and well-documented piece of BMW history. The restoration has been carried out to a very high standard.

The body has been refinished in a slightly lighter shade of red than original, with excellent paint quality free from runs or orange peel. The hand-sewn fabric interior presents beautifully, with craftsmanship that matches the car’s character. Underneath, the car appears as if new, demonstrating the care invested.

All chrome parts, wheels, and hubcaps are in outstanding condition. The car is fitted with a Becker Mexico radio with automatic station search, accompanied by its original documentation—a rare and desirable period accessory.
