Beschrijving

Bentley 4 1/ 4 litre, Thrupp and Maberley. A handsome car attractively finished in Bentley Dark Green with saddle leather interior. The car is in a lovely, smart and sharp condition. The paintwork is to a high standard, with some marks/ age commensurate to the age of restoration ( believed to be some time in the 1990's ). The leather is excellent, as is the headlining and carpets, which have all been renewed at some point. The interior wood veneers are stunning, with a superb finish. Some nice features include P100 ‘bullseye’ headlights (unusual for a Derby Bentley) and ‘trouser crease’ wings. The car comes with a significant maintenance and repair history file, with two large folders going back to the 1980s, showing a great deal of expenditure, together with various other literature and an original handbook in excellent condition. There is also a small selection of spare parts included. It is apparent just from looking at the car that it has been well cared for and has been in long term ownership some 38 years. Running and driving very nicely, having just undergone major engine work which included a brand new cylinder block from Ristes. Among the engine work the following has been done…

New block, new std FWT pistons, new rings, new gudgeon pins, main bearings checked, big end delivery pipes checked and cleaned, cylinder head cleaned, painted and valve stem oil seals replaced, one valve guide replaced. Sump thoroughly cleaned, new lock tabs used, head re-torqued after 115 miles and oil changed. Carbs cleaned and balanced, air filter cleaned and all new gaskets. This work was all done by a reputable Bentlely/ Rolls Royce specialist. The car has now covered some 300 miles since the engine build. Fitted with overdrive makes this Bentley a very competent car for touring.

Sidney Charles Harrison, who owned a curtain pole and furniture company was the first owner of B68GA and was a serial Bentley & Rolls Royce owner. Shortly before his death in 1944, B68GA was acquired by Harold Andrews an engineer who formed the company HAGCO.

Harold Andrews was also involved with: British Petroleum Ltd and also jointly involved with Airwork Engine Service Ltd at Heston Airport . They owned a fleet of Hermes, Vikings and Dakota aircraft.
