History of the Alfa Romeo Giulia When Alfa Romeo unveiled the Giulia in 1962, it was far ahead of its time. Angular yet elegant, compact yet surprisingly spacious, it combined the versatility of a four-door saloon with the technology and temperament of a sports car. Its body featured particularly studied aerodynamics with a remarkable drag coefficient of 0. 34 for the era. Its lightweight alloy Twin-Cam engines, five-speed gearbox, disc brakes and remarkably well-balanced chassis made it one of the sportiest saloons of its generation. In 1965, the Giulia Super Tipo 105. 26 was presented as a particularly well-equipped and sports-oriented version. The first examples of this initial series bore small golden Alfa Romeo emblems on the rear pillars. It is these badges that gave them their nickname, now commonly used by Alfisti: "Bollino d'Oro" – the golden badge. These early Giulia Supers possess a very particular charm, with their numerous chrome details, classic instrumentation and cabin with more refined finishes. Description of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Super "Bollino d'Oro" offered here The Giulia presented here is a first-series Giulia Super Tipo 105. 26 "Bollino d'Oro" dating from 1967. Its provenance is documented by a certificate from the Archivio Alfa Romeo. The vehicle bearing chassis number AR 342036 was produced on 8 February 1967 and delivered on 13 February 1967 to Signor Otello Ugolini in Florence. It left the factory in Biancospino (hawthorn white) with a Rosso (red) Skai interior. This is how the documented history of this Giulia began in 1967 in Florence. The last owner preserved and used the car for over 20 years. During this period, it was regularly maintained and serviced in our workshops, then known as Alfa Classic Center. In 2005, an optimised Alfa Romeo Twin-Cam 1750 engine was installed. The classic appearance of the engine bay was largely preserved. This more generous powerplant delivers greater torque and ease of use, whilst perfectly complementing the car's character. In 2017, the chassis underwent targeted preparation with our Alfa Classic suspension configuration, adjustable SPAX dampers, a larger-diameter anti-roll bar, reinforced springs and a slight lowering of the body. The Giulia thus offers more precise and consistent handling, without losing any of its characteristic lightness and agility. Inside, Recaro sports seats upholstered in red velvet were installed. They perfectly complement the car's sporting orientation and style. Between 2020 and 2021, the bodywork was completely restored and repainted. Since completion of this work, the car has covered only approximately 15, 000 kilometres. It therefore presents itself today in an exceptional state of preservation and maintenance. Conclusion This Giulia combines the unique charm of an early "Bollino d'Oro" with judiciously chosen technical improvements that further enhance its intrinsic qualities. The optimised 1750 engine, improved chassis and Recaro sports seats make it a classic Alfa Romeo that is not only beautiful to behold, but above all demands to be driven. Light, direct and agile, it possesses exactly that Italian temperament that made the Giulia a true icon to this day. Its documented history, the maintenance and servicing assured over many years by our house, its completely restored bodywork and its excellent overall condition make this car a first-rate opportunity to acquire a rare first-series Giulia Super. Perhaps all it needs now is the Romeo to match. Note We are offering this Alfa Romeo Giulia for sale on behalf of its owner as part of a consignment sale transaction.
