The professional seller offers for sale this 1968 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Series 1.5 Open Two Seater, powered by a 4.2-litre inline six-cylinder engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. This E-Type was first registered on 8 January 1968 and delivered new to New York for the American market. It is finished in solid black, having been repainted from its original white at some point in its history, and it is combined with a brown interior, a classic and elegant combination that shows off the famous silhouette of the E-Type beautifully.

The identity of the car has been verified as part of a comprehensive Classic Data appraisal, and the chassis number matches the accompanying vehicle documents, which include Jaguar Heritage documentation. The 4,235 cc six-cylinder engine is rated at 150 kW and is fed by a triple Weber carburettor set-up, while the exhaust has been upgraded to a stainless steel system with a tubular manifold. The interior has been retrimmed, with newly made brown seat covers and trim panels and light brown carpets, complemented by the wood-rimmed steering wheel and the classic array of round instruments. The mechanical soft top has a renewed cover with a plastic rear window, the boot contains a full-size spare wheel, and the car rides on 15-inch wire wheels with centre-lock spinners.

In December 2022, the car was appraised by the Classic Data expert office of Björn Linkowitz, which awarded it an overall condition grade of 2- and stated a replacement value of €110,000 at that time. In the interest of transparency, the report also documents age-related points: signs of use and corrosion on the underbody around the floor pan and sills, for which ice blasting was recommended, light oil seepage from the gearbox and rear differential, and door and boot lid seals that were not yet fully bonded at the time of inspection. The odometer has been converted from miles to kilometres, so the displayed reading does not represent the documented total distance covered.

When the E-Type was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961, it caused a sensation, and Enzo Ferrari is said to have called it the most beautiful car ever made. Its combination of breathtaking styling, a 150 mph top speed potential and a price far below its rivals made it an instant icon. The Series 1.5 is the transitional model built from 1967 to 1968, combining the purity of the early Series 1 design with the larger 4.2-litre engine, the improved all-synchromesh gearbox and more comfortable seats.

Few cars capture the spirit of the 1960s like an E-Type cabriolet. The long bonnet, the low, sweeping lines and the purposeful sound of the straight-six make every drive an occasion. With its documented history, elegant colour combination and a thorough appraisal report available, this Series 1.5 Open Two Seater is an attractive opportunity to acquire one of the most desirable British sports cars ever produced.
