For sale: 1962 Ford Consul Cortina Deluxe Mk1 – 2-door model.

It is worth noting that the very first Ford Consul Cortina was released in the UK on September 20, 1962.

This October 1962 Consul Cortina 1200 rolled off the line at the legendary Dagenham factory in England—Ford of Britain's main production facility at the time.

This is the first Ford Consul Cortina 1200 Deluxe registered in Portugal—specifically in Lisbon—in October 1962.

It is part of the very first batch sent to the country. The model had its global launch in the UK on September 20, 1962; the fact that this car was registered in October 1962 means it was imported immediately following the official launch.

The official Portuguese dealership (Ford Lusitana or major distributors of the era) would immediately order a "launch batch" for showroom display and for early VIP customers. This car arrived on the very first cargo ship bringing the new Cortinas from Dagenham to Lisbon. Almost certainly, five or six cars arrived in that same batch and were registered just days apart; the survival rate for 1962 automobiles in Portugal is extremely low.

We are talking about a 64-year-old car—and the oldest surviving example!

It is complete, and a high-quality restoration would be relatively straightforward.
