1966 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MK III

The Austin-Healey brand was founded in 1952 as a result of the partnership between Leonard Lord and Donald Healey, a renowned racing driver, engineer and car designer. Production of the brand came to an end in 1972.

Until 1959, Austin-Healey produced the famous 100, before launching the 3000, which underwent four successive iterations: the BN7 Mk I and Mk II, the BJ7 Mk II, and then, from 1964 to 1967, the BJ8 Mk III – the most refined version in the line-up and the one we are delighted to offer you today.

This superb Austin-Healey captivates with its decidedly sporty character. It is powered by its iconic straight-six engine, fed by three Weber carburettors, delivering breathtaking performance and a sound particularly prized by enthusiasts of British cars.

The example presented here has been in France since the early 1970s, as evidenced by its original Parisian registration. Its current owner acquired it in 2003 and, in 2005, entrusted it to the renowned Classic Car company for a race-inspired restoration. Notably, it features an aluminium body (although the two front wings have been retained in steel). This conversion also includes cooling vents on the grille and front wings, an aluminium fuel tank, an oil cooler, Minilite wheels with Rudge centre-nut fastenings, and an aluminium-finished dashboard.

In 2006, it was entrusted to Boche, specialists in British cars. The car then underwent a complete restoration based on a new chassis, with a full repaint and the replacement of a very large number of mechanical and electrical components.

The itemised invoice for this major restoration (34, 000 euros) will be provided to the future owner so that they may appreciate the scale and thoroughness of the work.

We have also just carried out a major service to bring the car up to standard following a period of inactivity, including a complete set of new brakes, fluid changes, a new battery, ignition system and so on…
