1965 Peugeot 404

We are delighted to present this magnificent Peugeot 404 Cabriolet with fuel injection for sale.

This model enabled Peugeot to move upmarket when, in 1961, it unveiled this refined open-top version of the 404 – designed by Pininfarina – at the Paris Motor Show.

This car was also innovative as it was the first French car to feature fuel injection from 1962 onwards, whilst the carburettor version remained in the range.

The model we are presenting here dates from March 1965.

This car underwent a complete restoration around 15 years ago (undocumented). It has covered 12, 760 km since then.

During this restoration, the grille – including the long-range headlights – the three-gauge instrument cluster and the large indicators from the 1967 model year were fitted (not in keeping with the original) to give it a slightly more modern look.

The previous owner had owned the car for 10 years and had a new soft top fitted in 2019, complete with the large rear window. It is in near-new condition.

The engine features an upgrade to the Kugelfischer fuel injection system, enabling it to produce 96 chevaux, which contributes to the driving pleasure of this convertible.

The four-speed gearbox with steering-wheel-mounted gearselector is smooth and precise. A real delight.

Its Djibouti Ivory paintwork suits it perfectly, contrasting beautifully with the black upholstery.

As 15 years have passed since the restoration, there are slight signs of ageing on the bodywork and in the interior, but the overall appearance is still very attractive. The car is sold with its hardtop.
