1959 MG MGA coupé - twin cam ID

Restoration project for an MGA Coupé, originating from Wisconsin, USA.

The car carries the original Twin Cam registration number YM1/ 2054.

According to the corresponding Heritage Certificate, this number belongs to a right-hand-drive MGA Twin Cam Coupé intended for the British market, originally delivered in Mineral Blue with a black interior.

Further research indicates that the bodywork and chassis currently fitted did not come from the original Twin Cam, but were used by a previous owner as a basis to rebuild YM1/ 2054. The original Twin Cam mechanicals are not present.

The car is today in a standard MGA configuration, with a BMC Gold Seal 1600 B-series engine, drum brakes and wire wheels. The engine turns over by hand.

A full restoration project requiring a body-off restoration. The chassis and body are restorable, but welding work is required, notably at sills, doglegs, lower wing sections, boot floor and bonnet framework.

The car is incomplete: windscreen, rear window, seats, bumper, lighting and wooden floor planks are notably missing.

Supplied with a Wisconsin MV2459 Junked Vehicle Bill of Sale, a Dutch customs document and the Heritage Certificate. No US title present.
