1959 MG MGA 1500 Cabriolet

The Atelier des 1000 presents to you in pre-sale this 1959 MGA 1500 in a unique configuration.

We ourselves imported this MG from New York in 2023 and then sold it to one of our loyal clients, from whom we repurchased it following the acquisition of a 911.

It was subsequently sold to one of our friends who made it his daily driver for 1 year. Now comes the time to pass it on and give it a new lease of life.

Whilst awaiting availability in our bodywork schedule for November, we are offering this car on pre-order.

Our example today constitutes an excellent base as the mechanics have already benefited from a recent restoration (engine/ gearbox). It nevertheless deserves a fresh coat of paint and interior trim to match, in order to restore it to its former glory.

Currently red with black interior, we plan to apply a Gun Metal shade from the Jaguar colour palette, paired with a burgundy red interior and matching hood. The photos illustrating the project show a 1600 completed by our workshop 2 years ago in the same colour combination.

As the factory colour of our example was black, its future owner may nevertheless choose to return to its original configuration or select another colour combination for both the bodywork and interior.

The pre-order allows its future owner to participate directly in defining the project and choosing the various improvements they would like to add. The configuration can thus be tailored to their preferences and requirements, expectations and budget.

In exchange for a lower capital outlay and in a spirit of mutual benefit, we are offering a discount of nearly 10%.

Regarding the vehicle's condition: mechanically, everything was overhauled 3 years ago. The engine bay is well maintained: the engine is in good health and performs beautifully, starting easily without noise or smoke, with crisp throttle response.

It recently benefited from a rocker arm adjustment, replacement of numerous engine gaskets, radiator replacement and a full service.

The gearbox has also just undergone a complete overhaul, including full sealing and synchro replacement.

Beyond the engine and gearbox work, we note that numerous ancillary expenses have been incurred such as replacement of shock absorbers and suspension leaves, as well as the clutch slave cylinder.

The chassis was rebuilt in the past and is free from corrosion. The thermal and acoustic insulation of the floors has just been redone.

Everything performs well, the braking has been serviced and is well balanced, the steering is precise. The Yokohama tyres are in very good condition.

Unlike the illustration photos, the car is currently fitted with wire wheels which will be retained but can be repainted in your choice of colour upon request.

The bumpers are in good condition and the chrome is gleaming.

The black interior trim looks good, the seats are comfortable and display a light patina which we particularly appreciate. These can be retained to maintain an authentic appearance with a price reduction, but the advertised price does include restoration of the cabin.

The original Bakelite steering wheel is present and the instrumentation functions correctly. The fuel gauge has just been replaced.

The hood frame and hood are in good condition and the side screens are present. A new hood will be fitted to best match the future configuration. Similarly to the interior trim, the hood can be retained for a discount.
