You settle into the Sparco bucket seats with OMP 4-point harnesses. Hit the starter button and the 1250 cc 48 KW Morris Minor engine roars to life.

With its mere 660 kg weight, the 4-speed Austin Healey Sprite goes like a bat out of hell. Brilliantly spartan through the corners, kept in check by Spax gas-filled dampers with 155/ 80/ 13 tyres on Minilite wheels.

The Austin Healey Sprite sat in my collection for three years before I decided to get behind the wheel myself. It was on German registration and came onto Dutch plates on 24-4-2025.

And to be clear, no, the Austin Healey Sprite doesn't have a convertible roof. Just bring your raincoat and a big umbrella – most of the rain falls beside you anyway.
