Beschrijving

One of only 84 Aston Martin DB Mark III Drophead Coupés produced

Powered by its matching-numbers 2. 9-liter inline-six engine, mated to a four-speed manual transmission

Delivered in Paris before being included in The Curated Collection in 2006

Accompanied by its tool kit, a copy of the Aston Martin build sheet, various correspondence from the current owner and his FIVA identification card

The successor to the DB2/ 4 Mark II, the DB2/ 4 Mark III—often simply referred to at the time as the DB Mark III—was introduced in 1957 and remained in production for just two years, until 1959. This model featured an enlarged inline-six engine developing 164 bhp as standard. Options included Girling disc brakes, a Laycock-de Normanville overdrive and an automatic transmission. Standard equipment included worm-and-sector steering, a live rear axle and twin SU carburettors. A total of 551 examples were produced, of which only 84 were Drophead Coupés.

According to the original build sheet, this particular Mark III was delivered new on June 6, 1958 in Paris to Enterprise Andre Laine, presumably a champagne producer. The car was originally finished in black with an Off-White Connolly leather interior and was equipped with a desirable manual transmission and front disc brakes. Through the mid-2000s, it was owned by Matthias Löhr of Bocholt, Germany before being added to The Curated Collection in May 2005.

Today the car is presented in a striking green paint job, combined with a matching green soft top and protective tonneau cover. The interior features green leather upholstery, green carpets and door panels, contrasted by a black dashboard and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The car comes with its original tool kit, a copy of the Aston Martin build sheet, registration papers and a FIVA identification card.

This exceptionally rare left-hand-drive Mark III Drophead would make a valuable addition to any classic car collection and is sure to attract the attention of enthusiasts and collectors of the marque.

This car has French registration.
