Mercedes-Benz 230 (W115) | 1975

Highlights:

– 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine, petrol, 4-speed manual transmission

– Restored in 2019

– Third owner, always registered in Belgium

– Silver paintwork with a blue interior

The private seller offers for sale this 1975 Mercedes-Benz 230 (W115), powered by a 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller is the third owner of this car, which has spent its entire life in Belgium. In 2019, the car was restored, and photographs of this work are available. It is finished in silver, combined with a blue interior with cloth seat centres, blue carpets and a matching blue dashboard.

The cabin is typical of the period Mercedes-Benz saloon, with a large steering wheel, the classic instrument cluster, a centre console with a period radio and a floor-mounted gear lever for the four-speed manual gearbox. The rear bench offers generous space, and the boot is fitted with a carpet and a spare wheel. The photographs show the clean exterior details, the chrome wheel arch trims and hubcaps and the engine bay with its four-cylinder engine.

The W115 was introduced in 1968 alongside the six-cylinder W114, and together these models became known as the Strich-Acht, or stroke eight, after their 1968 launch year. They were the first Mercedes-Benz models with semi-trailing arm rear suspension and a completely new body design by Paul Bracq. With almost two million built, the W114 and W115 were among the most successful Mercedes-Benz models ever, prized for their durability and their famously long service lives, many of them as taxis.

The Mercedes-Benz 230 combines the refined comfort of a larger saloon with the simplicity and robustness of the four-cylinder engine. It is a classic that can be used and enjoyed without fuss, offering relaxed cruising and timeless design. This restored, long-term Belgian example is an attractive entry into classic Mercedes-Benz ownership.
