Beschrijving

The 1965 Porsche 911 2.0 SWB...National Origin... Fully restored, it presents a magnificent color combination in Schiefergrau gray and Bordeaux interior. Launched in 1964, initially with the designation 901. However, due to a legal dispute with Peugeot, which held the rights to three-digit designations with a "0" in the center, Porsche was forced to change the name to 911. Thus was born one of the most emblematic cars in history, conceived to succeed the Porsche 356, but with far greater ambition and sophistication. The first versions, produced between 1964 and 1966, were distinguished by their short wheelbase (SWB – Short Wheelbase), of only 2,211 mm. This configuration, combined with its low weight and the traditional "all-rear" layout – rear engine and rear-wheel drive – gave it exceptional agility, although it required some skill from the driver when exploring the limits of grip. The engine was a 2.0-liter, air-cooled, rear-mounted six-cylinder boxer, delivering around 130 hp at 6,100 rpm. Linked to a five-speed manual gearbox, it offered impressive performance for its time, with vigorous acceleration and a top speed close to 210 km/h, remarkable figures in the mid-1960s. Inside, the 911 was more modern and refined than the 356, but without sacrificing the functional simplicity that has always characterized the brand. The instrument panel, dominated by five circular gauges, became a Porsche signature. The front seats offered good lateral support, while the rear seats were more symbolic, suitable for both passengers and luggage. The first series of the 911 SWB, produced between 1964 and 1966, are now particularly valued by collectors, not only for representing the inaugural years of the model, but also for their aesthetic purity, driving behavior, and their role as the starting point of Porsche's most famous lineage.
