The 328 was introduced in 1936 at the Eifelrennen at the Nürburgring, where Ernst Henne secured victory in the 2.0-liter class. In 1937, the 328 achieved over 100 class victories, including wins at the RAC Tourist Trophy, the Austrian Alpine Rally, and the La Turbie hill climb. In 1938, the 328 won its class at the RAC Tourist Trophy,[6] the Alpine Rally, and the Mille Miglia.

In 1939, the 328 won the RAC Rally and finished fifth overall—and first in its class—at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Frank Pratt won the 1948 Australian Grand Prix behind the wheel of a 328.

Mille Miglia

In 1938, the BMW 328 won its class in the Mille Miglia.

In 1940, the Mille Miglia Touring Coupé won the Mille Miglia with an average speed of 166.7 km/h (103.6 mph).

The BMW 328 presented here was originally delivered to Argentina. The car remained there until 1970, after which it was moved to the USA. It subsequently arrived in the Netherlands in 2021, where it underwent a meticulous restoration; a comprehensive photo album documenting the process is available. The engine has been replaced, but the original engine is included and remains available for restoration. The car's chassis number is 85324, and the number of the engine currently installed is 85424. It is therefore a genuine BMW engine from 1938. Consequently, it drives exactly as a BMW 328 should—which means very fast!
