Beschrijving

A well‑preserved and wonderfully honest 1933 Austin 10, finished in black with a period‑correct green interior. First registered on 5 December 1933, this example benefits from an unusually simple ownership history and retains the charm, character and usability that make the Austin 10 one of the most appealing pre‑war saloons.

The car has had three owners from new, although effectively only two long‑term keepers:

Owner 1: 1933 – April 2007

Owner 2: Relative of the first owner, in possession for around two months

Owner 3: My late father, from June 2007

The odometer shows approximately 1, 800 miles, and records indicate a replacement engine was fitted in 1994. I have located what appears to be all MOT certificates throughout its life, providing excellent provenance.

The bodywork is straight and solid, presenting very well for a 93‑year‑old vehicle. The paint retains a good shine, with light age‑related bubbling and the odd small area of paint loss, which I expect is entirely typical and expected for pre‑war car of this age. The interior is a highlight: the green seating is in excellent condition, and the headlining and dashboard appear original, offering a genuine period feel.

The car was running and driven locally until around 2–3 years ago, used only for gentle outings. It has been dry‑stored since.

A rear-mounted spare tyre is present, and the car retains its charming drop‑down rear picnic basket carrier, a delightful period feature rarely seen today.

This Austin 10 is exactly the sort of car enthusiasts look for:

Unusually simple ownership history with long-term custodianship

Very original interior that still carries the feel of the 1930s

Straight, honest bodywork with age‑appropriate patina rather than over-restoration

Extensive MOT history, giving confidence in its past care

Replacement engine in 1994, a major benefit for reliability

Rear spare tyre and drop‑down picnic carrier, adding charm and originality

A genuine family car, owned by my late father and enjoyed for many years

It’s a car that invites gentle weekend motoring, local shows, and the pleasure of owning a piece of early British automotive history. For collectors, it offers originality; for newcomers to pre‑war motoring, it offers approachability.
