This extremely original matching numbers luxury Crested Eagle 6 light saloon TF 19. 82 was exported by the firm of Charley and Lord to special order of James M Farden of Sydney Austrailia in 1936 where it remained until 2012 when it was shipped to UK Alvis specialists Earley Engineering and its first UK owner Professor Peter Burbage who had work carried out by Alvis specialists Earley Engineering before first registering the car in the UK on 01/ 07/ 2015. Peter kept the car until14/ 10/ 2023 when I became the second UK owner. The car has been left un-molested throughout its life. It is in original condition, having had appropriate maintenance and repairs only. This car is totaly rust free probably due to its life in Austrailia and dry storage in the UK. The paintwork is original with some crazing. The interior appears original with only the rear seat and carpet being replaced. Some chrome parts were re-cromed in 2003. The Crested Eagle was reported to be the first British production car to have independent front suspension. The lubrication of the chassis is by the Luvux "one shot" system and inbuilt four "DWS" jacks are standard. The original Jacking components, starting handle and grease gun are all in their original places under the bonnet. The engine is the a version of Alvis's famous speed 20 six cylinder engine however the car is a luxury car and not a sports saloon. All work carried out on the car appears to be documented in the extensive history file that accompanies the car. All owners are also fully documented with some mileage info present. I would be extremely surprised if the mileage shown is not original. The Crested Eagle used Alvis's first all synchromesh gear box making gear changing smooth and easy. I doubt whether it would be possible to find another in such original condition with even the clock still working. The luggage trunk is fitted which is easily detached allowing the rack to be folded all as original. Due to my health and age and it is time to let the Alvis go to a new home.
If you are looking for a luxury beatifully engineered quality saloon in original condition then you would be fard pressed to find better. The Alvis is fully serviced and roadworthy and is ready to be driven to it's new home.
The Crested Eagle offered for sale was built in 1936 as a model TF19. 82 Luxury Saloon and retains it's original Engine number 13647, original chassis number 13197 and original body number 13933. The car was exported in 1936 to Austrailia by the firm of Charley and Lord to special order of Mr James M. Farden of Sydney. James Farden kept the car for over 20 years before the car was sold to Mr Wright of Sydney in 1957. The car was again sold to 3rd owner Stan Nash in 1965, 4th Bob Wood, 5th Dick Colefax 1969, 6th Dick Willis 1978 (mileage 56, 703), 7th Brian Hemmings 1995 then to 9th owner Richard Tonkin in 1996 (mileage 61, 011).
Richard Tonkin was a well known Alvis specialist who used the car regularly before eventually shipping the car to it's first UK owner Prof. Peter Burbage via Alvis Specialists Earley Engineering in 2012 (mileage 74415). Peter Burbage lived near to Earley Engineering who carried out maintenance work for him prior to him movng to Jedburgh. I am the second UK owner purchasing the car in Oct. 2023 (mileage 75858). I am now selling the car due to my health and age.
