Industrial businessman ERRETT CORD acquired the Auburn marque in 1924, making it, along with CORD Automobile, DUESENBERG, and LYCOMING Engines, one of the mythical jewels of American automotive industry in the 1920s/ 30s, the roaring twenties, particularly with this AUBURN SPEEDSTER BOATTAIL model.

Historically, this is the car from THE GREAT GATSBY, in BAZ LUHRMANN's 2013 version, in a memorable racing scene between LONG ISLAND and NEW YORK, between an AUBURN SPEEDSTER driven by Jay GATSBY, Leonardo DICAPRIO, and a DUESENBERG SJ.

According to legend, many Hollywood celebrities such as aviator HOWARD HUGHES, and iconic actors such as CHARLIE CHAPLIN, CLARK GABLE and JAMES CAGNEY owned one.

The highly aerodynamic bodywork, in STREAMLINE Modern Art Deco style, was designed by Russian designer Alexis de SAKHNOFFSKY, inspired by the CORD Royale 812 & L-29 and DUESENBERG J, with a characteristic rear shape resembling a cuttlebone, BOATTAIL in English, from DUESENBERG designer Gordon BUEHRIG, inspired by runabout-skiff coachwork from the 1910s.

The ALPACA soft top folds away into an integrated rear hatch, and a small side compartment near the doors allows storage of long items such as a set of golf clubs. The long bonnet of the 8-cylinder engine is topped by an ornithopter radiator cap in the style of the Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstasy Art Deco.

This marvel is equipped with a CHEVROLET V8 350 Cu In 5. 7 litre engine producing approximately 250 bhp with truck-like torque! TH 350 automatic gearbox perfectly suited to the engine's power, the car runs beautifully, it has undergone a complete overhaul by a professional with engine, gearbox and axle sealing, the interior trim is in excellent condition with a patina that adds to its charm, the bodywork is in very good presentable condition.
