This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at CarFest 2026 on Saturday the 29th of August and Sunday the 30th of August at The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN.

The Mk2 Astra GTE 16v became one of the defining performance hatchbacks of the late 1980s, with its 2.0-litre ‘Red Top’ engine earning a strong following among Vauxhall enthusiasts.

Presented in factory specification, this 1988 example (F19 GTE) is described by the vendor as pristine following a detailed cosmetic and mechanical restoration completed during 2024 and 2025.

Powered by the 2.0-litre 16-valve ‘Red Top’ engine paired with a manual gearbox, it offers the lively performance for which these GTEs are well regarded.

The car underwent a meticulous multi-stage restoration with the aim of returning it to concours-level condition while retaining its original factory character and specification.

It is finished in striking Aubergine over a classic 'deckchair' striped grey cloth interior.

Supplied new by Burtons & Bury Cars of Ramsey, Cambridgeshire on 01/08/1988, the history file includes the original warranty card, handbook, folio, and a collection of previous MOT certificates.

Offered with its accompanying history file and V5C, this restored Astra GTE 16v presents an appealing opportunity to acquire one of Vauxhall’s best-known performance models.
