The Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II 1990...Only 36,000km...Excellent condition. Better known as the 190 Evo II, it is one of the most iconic cars in Mercedes-Benz history and a true symbol of the golden age of homologation cars. Launched in 1990, it was developed to meet the requirements of the Group A category of the German Touring Car Championship (DTM), allowing Mercedes to compete at the highest level against rivals such as the BMW M3 E30 Sport Evolution. To comply with the regulations, the brand produced only 502 road-going units, making it a rare and highly desirable model from the outset. The Evo II was an evolution of the already exclusive Evolution I, featuring significant improvements in the engine, suspension and, above all, aerodynamics. Its aggressive appearance, marked by widened wheel arches, specific bumpers and a huge adjustable rear wing, made an impact at the time and remains one of the most recognizable images in the automotive industry. Despite initial criticism of its design, all these elements had a practical function, increasing stability and grip at high speeds. Under the hood was a 2.5-liter, 16-valve, four-cylinder in-line engine with a Cosworth-developed cylinder head, capable of delivering around 235 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque. Paired with a five-speed Getrag manual gearbox with the characteristic "dog-leg" system, this combination allowed it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 7.1 seconds and reach a top speed limited to 250 km/h. Although these figures may seem modest by today's standards, in the early 1990s they placed the Evo II among the fastest and most sophisticated sports cars in its class. The chassis was also developed to offer excellent dynamic handling. Equipped with rear-wheel drive, a limited-slip differential, height-adjustable suspension, and larger brakes, the Evo II stood out for its precise steering, balanced cornering, and the confidence it instilled in the driver. Weighing close to 1,340 kg, it offered a pure, demanding, and highly communicative driving experience, characteristics that continue to be highly valued by enthusiasts. However, it was in competition that the 190 Evo II definitively earned its place in history. The racing version was extensively modified, exceeding 370 horsepower and capable of reaching speeds exceeding 10,000 revolutions per minute. In 1992, Mercedes-Benz dominated the DTM with this model, winning the drivers' championship with Klaus Ludwig and demonstrating the full potential of the engineering applied to the Evo II. The interior combined sportiness and luxury, reflecting the Mercedes-Benz philosophy of the time. The Recaro leather seats provided excellent lateral support, while the sports steering wheel...The specific instrumentation and high-quality finishes created a sophisticated environment without losing the car's competitive character.* This advertisement was published automatically; all data requires confirmation with the seller.
