1973 Ford Gran Torino Coupé - 351 V8 - A True American Icon Awaiting Restoration

Some cars are just tools to get from A to B, while others carry a soul and a story. This 1973 Ford Gran Torino belongs to the second category: an icon from the golden era of American muscle cars.

I am selling this project because my priorities have changed. I hope to pass it to a true enthusiast with the vision and passion to bring it back to the road.

DATA (from the door tag): Gran Torino 2-door hardtop (body code 65D), built 09/1972, model year 1973. Original colour Medium Copper Metallic (5M); currently matte black. Odometer not readable: mileage unknown.

MECHANICS: 351 ci (5.8L) V8 with automatic transmission, both installed. It started and moved until about a year ago. Non-original parts: Edelbrock air cleaner, chrome valve covers, aluminum intake manifold, radiator and cooling hoses. The wiring needs to be reviewed.

BODY: restoration project. Surface rust and rust-through on the rear quarter panels near the trunk. Floors and structure must be inspected in person. Some small parts are missing (e.g. lock cylinders): list on request.

DOCUMENTS: original paper California Title (last recorded transfer: 2021) and original California license plate. Dutch customs declaration dated 07/07/2022 and Dutch sales invoice. Intra-EU purchase reported to the Italian Revenue Agency (Pinerolo) and to the Italian vehicle authority, validation dated 19/12/2023. Not registered in Italy: registration is the buyer's responsibility, requirements depend on the country of destination and I cannot guarantee the outcome.

I am putting this project up for sale for a change of priorities, hoping to entrust it to a true enthusiast who has the vision and the desire to bring it back to the splendor it deserves.

MECHANICS: V8 351 ci (5.8L) with automatic transmission, mounted. It started and moved until about a year ago. Non-original parts: Edelbrock air filter, chrome tappet covers, aluminum intake manifold, radiator and cooling pipes. The electrical system needs to be revised.

BODYWORK: to be restored. Surface/through rust on the rear sides near the trunk. Bottoms and structure to be checked in person. Some small components are missing (e.g. lock pawls): list on request.

DOCUMENTS: Original paper Californian title (last note passage: 2021) and original Californian license plate. Dutch customs declaration of 07/07/2022 and Dutch sales invoice. Intra-community purchase communicated to the Revenue Agency (Pinerolo) and the DMV, validation of 19/12/2023. It is not registered in Italy: the registration (CRS ASI, testing) is the responsibility of the buyer and I do not guarantee the outcome.
