1990 Ford Escort Sport

One of the rarest production Fords of its era, this 1990 Escort 1600 Sport is presented in striking Radiant Red with a Recaro Grey and Red interior. It is believed that as few as 28 examples survive today, with only five currently UK-registered, making this an exceptionally scarce opportunity.

The car has undergone a comprehensive, ground-up restoration to an exacting standard, resulting in an outstanding example with exceptional fit, finish, and attention to detail throughout. It is equally suited to a collection of significant Fords or can be proudly displayed on the concours lawn or at any classic Ford event.

The Escort has been sympathetically upgraded for enhanced performance and drivability, featuring a Vulcan Engineering-built 1.6-litre engine breathing through twin Weber 45 carburettors. The original matching numbers factory engine accompanies the sale and will require collection directly from the vendor following the auction.

Further enhancements include front Wilwood brakes and Cosworth rear disc brake conversions, along with Gaz shock absorbers, significantly improving the Escort's road manners without detracting from its character. Completing its purposeful appearance are period-style 16-inch Compomotive alloy wheels, which perfectly complement the car's sporting credentials.
