Chassis No. 109.018.12.000128

Introduced in 1968, the 300 SEL 6.3 stands as one of the most audacious sedans of its era. An elegant, understated body concealed the now legendary 6.3-liter "M100 V8" that Mercedes-Benz engineers had originally developed for the flagship 600 "Grosser." In the 300 SEL, it was capable of reaching 100 km/h in around seven seconds and topping out near 220 km/h. It was the world's fastest sedan at the time of its debut, quicker in a straight line than even the Porsche 911 S. The result was a car that could carry four passengers in supreme luxury while outrunning contemporary sports cars. This combination earned it near-instant status as the ultimate 'sleeper' sedan of the 1960s and one of the forebears of the modern super sedan.

This SEL 6.3 is the subject of a comprehensive restoration and now presents in striking Black over a Red leather interior. Since the completion of that restoration, the car has covered just over 2,200 kilometers. Equipped with a desirable set of period options, this example features factory Behr air conditioning, a limited-slip differential, and an electric sunroof. At its core remains the mechanically fuel-injected M100 V8, backed by the self-leveling air suspension and four-wheel independent design that made the 300 SEL 6.3 such a revelation when new, delivering a ride and handling balance that few sedans of any era could match.

An exceptional example of Mercedes-Benz's landmark super sedan, this 300 SEL 6.3 combines its recent restoration, low post-restoration mileage, and desirable equipment into a compelling package. More than half a century after its introduction, it remains fully capable of doing exactly what it was built to do, carrying four passengers across a continent in ultimate high-speed comfort and style. Few classics offer such a rare blend of everyday usability and genuine performance, making this 300 SEL 6.3 as thrilling a grand tourer today as it was the day it left the factory.
