The private seller offers for sale this 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1, powered by a 390 cubic inch (6.4-litre) S-code FE V8, paired with the optional four-speed manual gearbox. According to the seller, this is a genuine Mach 1. The car comes to market following a comprehensive restoration, during which it was repainted in a deep, period-appropriate orange with contrasting black hood and side stripes. The signature shaker hood scoop, the rear spoiler, the chrome pop-open fuel cap and the quad headlamp front end give it the unmistakable stance of the first Mach 1, while Shelby-style alloy wheels add a purposeful touch.

Inside, the Mustang retains its original black interior with high-back sports seats, preserving authentic late-1960s textures, trim patterns and finishes. The classic Mustang dual cowl dashboard features woodgrain veneers and the Mach 1 badge on the passenger side, and the instrument cluster has been refurbished for accuracy and function. The interior is largely standard, save for some auxiliary gauges added to the center console and modified door cards. All door, window and boot seals have been replaced.

Mechanically, the car has been thoroughly attended to. The suspension was fully renewed to original specification, including bushings, bolts and key components, and the electrical system was rebuilt with the replacement of age-worn wiring and components. A factory-style power steering conversion was fitted during the restoration, making the car easier to enjoy on today’s roads, and an aluminium Griffin radiator helps keep the big-block V8 cool. The engine bay presents in clean, well-detailed order with a period-correct appearance. Records of the upgrades and refurbishments, including the power steering conversion, accompany the car.

The Mach 1 was introduced for the 1969 model year as Ford escalated its involvement in the muscle car wars. It combined the sleek SportsRoof fastback body with a choice of V8 engines, a standard competition-handling suspension, distinctive graphics and a specially trimmed interior. The 390 cubic inch S-code FE engine, with a four-barrel carburettor, was rated at 320 bhp and 427 lb-ft of torque, giving strong straight-line performance, while the suspension tweaks allowed the Mach 1 to carry its speed through corners where some of its siblings would struggle. That balance is why the Mach 1 remains the model that many Mustang enthusiasts gravitate to.

With its combination of the desirable S-code 390 V8, four-speed manual gearbox, preserved original interior and sympathetic practical upgrades, this Mach 1 is both a usable driver’s car and a collectible icon of the muscle car golden age.
