Lea Francis K Type - Tourer 2 seats plus Dickey (Therefore 4 Seater)
Manufactured in October 1925 and first registered in April 1926.
She is a matching numbers car running the Meadows 4EB OHV unit ( and can come with a spare 4EC) The 4EB was advanced for the time and utilises the 4 Speed Meadows crash gearbox.
She has a cruising speed of 40 / 45mph (will do more, but at that she is comfortable) and is a great Hill climber. especially given the light Cross and Ellis Coupe body.
She is a multi award winning restoration. (George Andrews Trophy, Best in show Locke Park, Crow Nest and many more)
She comes with a superb hood. screens and hood bag.
The car comes with a documented history from new, there cannot be many Cars out there with such detailed provenance, she was with the fist owner between 1926 and 1961, the second owner (my Dad) from 1961 to 1998, he first spotted her in 1947 and indeed worked on her as an apprentice mechanic, there was a brief interlude between 1998 and 2015. The car was then bought back by me in 2015.
Since i have had the Leaf she has undergone a full rebuild 2019 to 2022.
Engine (Re bore, new pistons, valves, white metal), Cone Clutch re lined with Green Gripper, Axle modified, modified new half shafts, Diff utilising the stronger P Type differential, Gearbox (new OS Gears), Brakes re built, Dynamo converted to electronic charge, re built starter motor, change to period SU and a full re spray in Saxe Blue which was the original color. The nickel plating has largely been renewed.
In terms of originality she is as she left the factory, that was always my aim barring a few sensible modifications. I have left the superb interior as she was in my dads ownership and she has period Longstone Tyres (4 years old) the spare is a Dunlop 1930's tyre (probably original from the 1920's)
She is as clean underneath as she is on top, fully painted chassis in Chassis enamel with zero rust anywhere, many who have seen almost think the chassis is as new and i have a ramp for any inspection required.
Please note the restoration was sympathetic to the cars history.
The rebuild is fully documented with invoices (far too many!) and pictures of the restoration which was carried out by me.
As previously stated the history is extremely interesting, detailed, with magazine write ups and a forthcoming feature in the Automobile.
To cap all of this she also retains her original, valuable registration number RR3065, which will be retained with the car, dependent on price.
