Beschrijving

The Triumph TR6 was launched in 1968. The chassis was essentially based on that of the TR4. The TR6 was designed by the Osnabrück-based coachbuilder Karmann, following on from the previous TR models, which had been designed by the Italian Giovanni Michelotti, who was no longer available. The bodywork of the TR6 featured smoother lines than that of the TR5. The European version of the TR6 (designated ‘PI’ for ‘Petrol Injection’) was powered by a 2.5-litre inline-six engine fitted with a mechanical intake manifold injection system from Lucas Industries. It produced up to 143 bhp, which was transmitted via a 4-speed manual gearbox. Due to emissions regulations in the USA, models sold there were fitted with an engine featuring two Stromberg carburetors, producing between 98 and 106 bhp. This Triumph TR6 in the twin-carburetor version was manufactured in November 1972 and first registered in the USA in early 1973. The roadster’s early history is unknown until it was imported into Switzerland in October 2014. Having evidently been restored in the US prior to this and repainted from its original ‘mimosa yellow’ to its current dark blue with a red accent stripe on the bonnet, this sporty British car was frequently used by its first Swiss owner for historic events. In 2019, the TR6 was purchased by the actual owner with a mileage of 45'000 km. The lady only used the Triumph on fine days and, due to a lack of time, very infrequently. Today, the odometer reads 46'500 km and the car is in good overall condition. The engine runs well, the gearbox shifts correctly, the bodywork and soft top are in fine condition, and the interior shows signs of wear appropriate to its age. This robust sports car will be handed over to a new owner with its most recent veteran MOT completed in June 2021, meaning it can be registered immediately in most German-speaking cantons.
