The seller offers for sale this 1974 BMW 2002 Cabriolet, powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, paired with a manual transmission. This example has undergone a complete restoration in which the bodywork was repaired using original BMW parts, including the rear quarter panels, both front fenders, the rear panel, the doors, and the front and rear lids, along with various other body components. The axles and brake system were overhauled, and the tires are new. The exhaust system, clutch and suspension were renewed, and the car received a BMW factory exchange engine. The hardtop, soft top and tonneau cover were all replaced, while the interior seats and trim were reupholstered and refreshed. The exterior trim and chrome parts were renewed and refurbished as part of the same process.

Following this restoration, an independent Classic Data appraisal rated the car 1- overall, with an appraised value of 58,300 euros at the time. The car is currently registered and holds a valid technical inspection (TÜV), and the seller notes it can be test driven in good weather.

The BMW 2002 forms part of the BMW 02 Series, introduced in 1966 and widely credited with reviving BMW’s reputation as a builder of sporting, driver-focused saloons. The 2002 arrived in 1968 with a larger 2.0-litre engine fitted into the compact 02 Series bodyshell, giving it a favourable power-to-weight ratio that made it an instant favourite with enthusiasts and the press alike, and it later formed the basis for the influential 2002 Turbo. The cabriolet version was produced in far smaller numbers than the saloon, with the open-top conversion carried out by the coachbuilder Baur, making surviving examples considerably rarer today.

Behind the wheel, the 2002 is known for its light, responsive chassis and eager four-cylinder engine, a combination that made it a benchmark for the sports saloon class during its era and that still defines its appeal to collectors today. In cabriolet form, that character is paired with open-air driving enjoyment, making this a usable and engaging classic BMW for touring or weekend driving.
