Jaguar XK150 Special Roadster 1958 Handbuilt Aluminium Body 3. 4L 5-SpeedGENERAL INFORMATIONThis exceptional 1958 Jaguar XK150 Special Roadster has been completely rebuilt and fitted with a specially handcrafted aluminium body. The car is left-hand drive, originally came from the United States and was imported into the Netherlands in 1992. During the restoration, the Jaguar was extensively rebuilt both technically and cosmetically, with many components renewed, rebuilt or upgraded. The most striking feature is, of course, the fully aluminium body. It was deliberately left unpainted, allowing the brushed aluminium finish to remain visible. This gives the car a very pure and distinctive appearance. This is therefore not a standard XK150, but a unique Special that has been built with a great deal of care and craftsmanship. TECHNICAL MECHANICAL CONDITIONMechanically, the Jaguar has been extensively rebuilt. The car is fitted with the well-known 3. 4-litre Jaguar straight-six engine. The engine has been rebuilt and fitted with renewed carburettors. The original transmission has been replaced by a Borg Warner 5-speed gearbox, making the car more comfortable and relaxed to drive at higher speeds. Work carried out includes:- New wiring loom- New water pump- New oil pump- New radiator- 123 electronic ignition- Lightweight starter ring gear- Renewed brake lines- Renewed brake discs- Renewed pedal box- Renewed oilbrake fluid reservoir- Fuel system overhauled- Aluminium fuel tank- Suspension treated and renewed where necessary- New wire wheels- New tyresThe braking system, suspension and various other technical components were also checked, rebuilt or renewed during the restoration. The car drives very well. The combination of the 3. 4-litre six-cylinder engine, 5-speed gearbox and lightweight aluminium body makes this Jaguar especially enjoyable to drive. EXTERIORThe body has been completely handcrafted from aluminium. The aluminium has deliberately not been painted, allowing the material itself to remain visible. This gives the Jaguar its characteristic and highly distinctive appearance. Various exterior details have also been renewed or modified. The Jaguar is equipped with:- Brooklands-style Aero Screens- Additional Perspex windscreen- New lighting- New light fittings- New grille- Various period-style details- Specially made stainless-steel racing exhaust- New wire wheelsThe car does not have a traditional convertible soft top. INTERIORThe interior has also been completely rebuilt and finished in water-resistant Burgundy leather. The dashboard has also been retrimmed in leather. In addition, the Jaguar is fitted with new period-style instruments and a Moto-Lita sports steering wheel. The sports seats and Burgundy leather form a very attractive combination with the bare aluminium body. The interior perfectly matches the character of the car: simple, sporty and focused entirely on the driving experience. DOCUMENTATION HISTORYThe car comes with, among other documentation, a valuation report describing the restoration and technical build in detail. According to the valuation report, very little was spared in terms of time and cost during the restoration. The car is described as an almost unique Jaguar that has been virtually completely rebuilt and can be regarded as a collectors item. DRIVING EXPERIENCEThis Jaguar is not only special to look at, but above all has been built to be driven. The combination of the 3. 4-litre straight-six engine, renewed carburettors, 123 ignition, 5-speed gearbox, upgraded braking system and lightweight aluminium body gives the car a direct and sporty driving experience.
