The vehicle we are offering is a DKW Schnellaster 3-6. It was manufactured in Germany in 1957 and exported to South Africa. Over the past 50 years it has been restored and resprayed once. The car is prepared for MOT and drives well. If desired, it could be resprayed in the original colour.
The DKW Schnellaster features a tubular steel frame with the then-advanced short-bonnet design and front-wheel drive with the characteristic DKW two-stroke engine. The engineering was derived from pre-war models. The front wheels are suspended on wishbones with a high-mounted transverse leaf spring, whilst the rear wheels are suspended on trailing arms with a transverse torsion bar element.
