The seller offers for sale this 1946 Simca 5, powered by a 567cc four-cylinder engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in black with contrasting red-painted wheels, this charming little Simca is fitted with a large folding fabric roof and a period-style rear luggage rack, giving it an eye-catching, character-filled presence. The car has been in the current owner’s hands for the past fifteen years, having previously formed part of an automotive museum collection in France, and has spent its life running in the south of the country, never having been used in snow.

Introduced in 1936, the Simca 5 was the product of a close collaboration between Fiat and the newly founded French manufacturer Simca, being built in Nanterre under licence from Fiat as a French-market version of the Fiat 500 “Topolino”. In fact, the Simca 5 was presented to the public some three months before its Italian sibling, making it in some respects the first of the two into production. With its tiny four-cylinder engine, independent front suspension and hydraulic brakes on all four wheels, the Simca 5 was a remarkably advanced small car for its era, and its friendly, rounded styling has made it a firm favourite among pre-war and immediate post-war microcar enthusiasts ever since.

Mechanically, this example benefits from a range of recent attention, with new valves and camshaft, a new radiator, a new wiring harness and a new clutch all having been fitted in recent years, addressing many of the key service items on a car of this age. Inside, the simple cabin retains its period charm, with a slender three-spoke steering wheel and minimal instrumentation typical of these diminutive machines. For collectors of pre-war microcars or anyone seeking a genuinely different and usable entry into classic motoring, this well-documented Simca 5 offers plenty to enjoy.
