1964 Triumph TR4 — UK Supplied, Overdrive & Steel Surrey Top

Presented in its original factory specification of Triumph Racing Green with contrasting red trim, this 1964 Triumph TR4 is an exceptionally well restored and highly desirable example of Triumph’s landmark sports car.

A UK-supplied, right-hand-drive car from new, it was originally delivered by Douglas Garage Ltd of Northampton and retains a particularly appealing specification, including factory-fitted overdrive and its original steel Surrey top.

The car was treated by its former owner to an extensive nut-and-bolt, body-off, bare-metal restoration, completed in 2026. The quality of the work is evident throughout, with the beautifully finished bodywork presented in its correct Racing Green and the contrasting red interior providing a particularly handsome combination. Considerable attention was also given to the underside, which is remarkably clean and has been finished in body colour rather than concealed beneath layers of underseal. As a result, the quality of the restoration can be appreciated just as readily underneath the car as it can from above.

While retaining the character and specification of the original TR4, a number of sympathetic improvements have been incorporated to enhance its usability. These include a stainless-steel tubular exhaust system, an alternator conversion and fully poly-bushed suspension. Together with the factory overdrive, these additions make the car particularly well suited to enjoyable modern-day touring without detracting from its period character.

The combination of its UK provenance, right-hand-drive configuration, original colour scheme, factory overdrive, steel Surrey top and comprehensive bare-metal restoration makes this a particularly attractive TR4.
