1967 Volkswagen T1 Restomod Classic soul — modern driving Few vehicles symbolize freedom, adventure and pure automotive culture quite like the Volkswagen T1. From surf beaches in California to the narrow streets of Europe, the iconic “Bulli” became a symbol of an entire generation. Yet while the original T1 is charming, its driving characteristics are often… let’s say nostalgic. This beautifully restored 1967 Volkswagen T1 solves that problem in the best possible way. It retains everything that makes the T1 legendary — the unmistakable design, the upright driving position, the panoramic windows and the timeless charm — while benefiting from a carefully executed high-end restomod restoration that dramatically improves reliability, comfort and driving pleasure. ________________________________________ High quality restoration The bus has undergone an extensive restoration where a large portion of the body panels have been renewed using high-quality sheet metal panels, ensuring long-term durability. The floor sections have been replaced, and the entire vehicle has received a thorough anti-corrosion treatment, followed by a ceramic coating to preserve the deep finish of the paintwork. The striking black and silver two-tone paint perfectly suits the elegant lines of the T1 and gives the bus a refined and timeless appearance. The high-end paintwork was executed using period-correct Porsche colors, a subtle detail that adds an extra level of sophistication to the overall build. Original elements such as the front doors and rear hatch were preserved where possible, maintaining the authenticity of the vehicle. What immediately stands out when you see the bus in person is the quality of the restoration. The panel fit, the depth of the paintwork and the carefully executed details give the vehicle a presence that photographs alone never fully capture. ________________________________________ A T1 that actually drives well While the classic T1 driving experience is charming, it was never known for modern handling. This bus therefore benefits from one of the most respected upgrades available today: Red9 Design independent suspension front and rear. Combined with disc brakes on all four wheels, the difference compared to a standard T1 is dramatic. The vehicle drives far more stable, brakes significantly better and feels much more confident on modern roads. The bus sits beautifully on Fuchs-style alloy wheels, giving it a subtle performance-inspired appearance. It is still unmistakably a classic Volkswagen T1 — but one that can comfortably keep up with modern traffic. ________________________________________ Upgraded engine Power comes from a lively 1635cc air-cooled boxer engine, equipped with dual Weber carburetors and producing approximately 110 horsepower. For a vehicle originally designed for much lower output, this results in a surprisingly energetic driving experience while still preserving the unmistakable character of the classic air-cooled engine. ________________________________________ Beautiful custom interior The interior has been completely redesigned with a strong focus on craftsmanship and comfort. Highlights include: • Custom dark brown leather upholstery with diamond stitching • Matching leather door panels • Alcantara headliner • Classic wood steering wheel • Wooden floor finish • Alpine stereo system In addition, the rear seating area has been cleverly designed for practicality. The rear bench folds out into a full-size double bed, making the vehicle perfectly suited for relaxed weekend trips or spontaneous overnight adventures. Above the rear passenger compartment there is also a large sunroof that extends almost the full length of the rear cabin, bringing in plenty of natural light and giving the interior an even more open and airy feel. The result is a cabin that feels both classic and refined, perfectly matching the personality of the vehicle. ________________________________________ Iconic details A number of charming period features complete the character of this bus: • Safari front windows • Safari side windows • Original canvas roof • Pop-out windows • Classic VDO instrumentation Together they create the unmistakable atmosphere that made the Volkswagen T1 a cultural icon. ________________________________________ A classic you can actually enjoy Thanks to the combination of restoration, thoughtful upgrades and tasteful modifications, this Volkswagen T1 offers something quite special: The charm of a 1960s icon — with the driving experience of a far more modern vehicle. Whether used for weekend drives, events, road trips or simply as a conversation piece wherever it appears, this T1 will attract attention everywhere it goes. And perhaps most importantly: this is the kind of vehicle that turns every drive — no matter how short — into an experience. This particular example is a carefully executed Restomod that is ready to be enjoyed — combining the timeless appeal of the original T1 with upgrades...
