It was a revolutionary and characterful small car designed for the British Motor Corporation (BMC) by Alec Issigonis (1906-1988) and made in Birmingham. This car featured new advanced technologies for the time, such as a transverse engine and front-wheel drive, a concept widely used today. The Mini was available with engines of 850, 1000 and 1275 cc. Delivery of the original old Mini stopped in the Netherlands in the mid-1990s. This generated so much comment that the car became available again anyway, now at a price of between 25 and 30 thousand Dutch guilders.
