The seller offers for sale this 1975 Volkswagen Beetle 1303 Cabriolet, powered by a 1.3-litre air-cooled flat-four engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in red with a black soft top, this Beetle Cabriolet presents in good condition and has recently had its battery, starter motor and various other components replaced.
The car is used as a daily classic by its current owner, its documentation is in order and it has recently passed its roadworthiness inspection. Viewing is available by appointment.
Karmann in Osnabrück began building the four-seat Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet in 1949, and the model went on to share every major mechanical and styling update with the saloon throughout its long production run. From 1973, the Cabriolet adopted the revised 1303 front end, with a curved windscreen and MacPherson strut front suspension that improved both comfort and handling compared with earlier torsion-bar cars. Production of the Beetle Cabriolet continued until January 1980, by which point more than 330,000 examples had been built, making it one of the most successful open-top cars in automotive history.
The air-cooled flat-four engine and rear-mounted drivetrain give the Beetle Cabriolet its distinctive, unmistakable character, while the simple mechanical layout has always made it an accessible classic to own and maintain. With seating for four and a folding soft top, it remains one of the most practical and cheerful ways to enjoy open-top motoring from the period, combining genuine everyday usability with the enduring charm of one of the most recognisable car designs ever produced. For a buyer seeking a usable and characterful classic Cabriolet, this well-kept example offers an appealing combination of presentation and recent mechanical attention.
