Mercedes-Benz 200 (W21) | 1935
Highlights:
– 2.0-litre six-cylinder engine, petrol, manual transmission
– Pre-war four-door saloon
– Two-tone black and light blue paintwork
– Rear-mounted spare wheel and chrome headlights
The private seller offers for sale this 1935 Mercedes-Benz 200 (W21), powered by a 2.0-litre six-cylinder engine, paired with a manual transmission. This elegant four-door saloon is finished in a two-tone scheme of black and light blue, with black wings, bonnet and roof contrasting with the light blue body sides. The typical pre-war details are all present, from the upright radiator grille with the three-pointed star and the large chrome headlights to the spare wheel mounted on the rear and the running boards along the sides.
The interior is trimmed in grey, with a front bench and a comfortable rear bench, grey door panels with chrome handles and a matching headlining. The dashboard features the beautiful original-style instruments with cream dials, including the speedometer and clock, behind the large four-spoke steering wheel. The accompanying photographs also show the six-cylinder engine, the running boards and the many period details that make this car so charming.
The Mercedes-Benz 200, known internally as the W21, was introduced in 1933 as the successor to the Stuttgart 200 and was one of the most important models in the Mercedes-Benz range of the 1930s. It brought advanced engineering to the mid-size class, with independent front suspension, swing-axle rear suspension and hydraulic brakes, which gave it a comfortable ride and safe handling by the standards of the day. The W21 was offered in several body styles, from saloons to cabriolets, and just over 13,000 were built before it was replaced by the 230.
Pre-war Mercedes-Benz models are among the most sought-after classics of their era, and the six-cylinder W21 combines smooth, relaxed performance with the solid build quality for which the brand became famous. This 200 saloon offers the chance to own a genuine piece of Mercedes-Benz history, suitable for pre-war rallies, special occasions or as a centrepiece of a collection.
