A bit of history
APAL (Application Polyester Armé Liège) Belgian coachbuilding company founded in the early 1960s by Edmond Pery and Bruno Vidick, based in Blegny-Trembleur.
Their first project was a coupé built on a VW base (150 examples produced, including 120 on the VW base).
The one for sale today is one of those 120 in VW specification.
Brand-new engine, running-in completed
APAL registration document, Collection (Column D1: APAL, Column D3: APAL VW coupé 1300)
Porsche 912 instrumentation (green dials), plus VDO gauges
Havana leather interior, matching 356-type carpet, LECARA leather steering wheel, Apal bucket seats with TRS 3-point harnesses.
4 CSP disc brakes, KYB dampers, offset spindles, grey 356-style wheels (front 4. 5X15, rear 5. 5X15) Hankook tyres, front and rear anti-roll bars.
1300cc engine, evolved to a 1641cc using a Mahle kit, Panchito performance cylinder head, Engle VZ14 camshaft, two 40mm dual single-barrel carburettors, high-flow Schadek oil pump, electric fuel pump, blue coil, electronic ignition, Sport V Speed exhaust, etc.
