Introduced in 1959, the Mercedes-Benz W111 marked a turning point in the story of the Star brand. Styled under the direction of Paul Bracq, father of the Pagoda, it stands out thanks to its famous rear fins—an inspiration taken from American productions—while still retaining the distinct elegance you expect from Mercedes-Benz.

Known for its build quality, comfort and reliability, the 220SE quickly established itself as one of the great luxury touring cars of its era.

The example we’re offering you left the Stuttgart factory in 1965 and was delivered brand new to the Mercedes Paris Grande Armée dealership.

Mechanically, the fuel-injected straight-six starts easily, with no noise and no smoke. Its operation is smooth and matches what you would expect from a Mercedes-Benz of this generation.

The gearbox shifts and engages properly, while the clutch shows no signs of wear.

The running gear is in good condition, and the suspension provides the kind of driving comfort that made the W 111’s reputation.

Braking is good—steady, reliable and confidence-inspiring.

The bodywork is in good shape and the paintwork has a lovely shine.
