Beschrijving
We are delighted to present this beautiful and correctly restored, matching-numbers SWB Porsche 911, finished in its factory-correct colour scheme of Irish Green over Brown leatherette. Having undergone a comprehensive restoration to factory specification, this rare and highly desirable example wants for nothing and is ready for its next owner to cherish and enjoy.
This lovely LHD example was delivered to the US in 1967. We understand from the history file that, after changing hands in 1968, the car remarkably remained with the same New York owner until 1990, who cared for it diligently throughout his ownership. It was later acquired by a local garage, where it was maintained to a high standard and benefited from significant reconditioning work.
The car was subsequently purchased by its current Hong Kong-based owner during a business trip to the US, having spent considerable time searching for a genuine and increasingly rare SWB example. Following a professional inspection, a deal was agreed and the car was imported to the UK in 2017. Although it remained in good, usable condition, the decision was taken to undertake a comprehensive restoration programme, commencing with a bare-metal body restoration completed in 2019. The car has since benefited from further reconditioning work, including a retrim of the interior in 2022 and additional mechanical attention to ancillary components thereafter.
The body restoration, engine work and overhaul of ancillary components are comprehensively documented within the history file. The result is a beautifully presented and mechanically correct example. As ever, the car has been subject to our thorough pre-sale inspection and detailing, and now presents beautifully and is mechanically on the button.
Classic 911s offer a highly engaging driving experience. Weighing around 1, 000kg, they are light and responsive on the road. With communicative steering and excellent balance, they feel remarkably approachable. The engine has a distinctive power band at around 5, 000rpm, encouraging the driver to explore the upper reaches of the rev range while producing the unmistakable flat-six soundtrack for which the early 911 is renowned.
This example represents a rare opportunity to acquire a beautifully presented early SWB 911, combining matching-numbers originality, factory-correct specification, extensive restoration documentation and excellent provenance.
