Exterior / Body:

The example presented here is an authentic PORSCHE 356 BT5 Cabriolet from 1961, finished in its period Schwarz R701 colour.

The bodywork of this car was restored by a specialist a few years ago. The occasion saw a full new repaint.

The bumpers are perfectly aligned, with no dents or distortions.

The chrome trim is complete and correctly positioned; only the door gaps could be improved.

The Mohair hood in beige was replaced during the body restoration.

The hood is in excellent condition, with no snags, wear marks or fading. The rear plexiglass is perfectly clear with no blemishes despite a few light surface scratches.

Hood operation is smooth and its seal is true to original.

The beige Mohair hood cover is also in excellent condition.

The 4 chrome wheels and PORSCHE caps are in very good condition, with no dents, scuffs or distortions, only minor superficial pitting.

The car is rolled on 4 Kumho Power Star 758 tyres with less than 40% wear on both axles.

This example is equipped with its original spare wheel, jack and toolkit.

Interior:

The interior has recently been restored to original specifications.

The Hell Braun C leather/ faux leather upholstery is in excellent condition, with no wear, tears or fading.

We note some light passenger-reach impressions on the passenger seat back.

The door panels in Hell Braun C faux leather are in very good condition, with no signs of body access marks or sagging.

The carpets in Hell Braun are in excellent condition, as are the PVC floor mats in Schwarz.

The body-colour dashboard is in excellent condition, as is the faux leather dash cap in Light Brown C.

All original VDO instruments are fully functional.

Oil pressure sender replaced in 2015.

The heating system was renewed in 2017 and works perfectly (invoice available).

The period Blaupunkt radio is fully functional.

The original Bakelite steering wheel was recently replaced with a near-new NARDI wooden 3-spoke wheel.

Chassis:

On the rack, the shell is sound with no obvious structural corrosion.

Fundamentals: chassis, floors, spare wheel well, longitudinals, sills and arch areas are in good order.

Note: while we strive for perfection, alignment tolerances are limited to their visual and functional condition as tested on the road and on the ramp.

During the dynamic test, no abnormal creaks or rattles were detected in the body or running gear (ball joints, bushings, etc.).

Brakes are balanced, stable and free of vibration or unusual noises.

Front and rear drums operate perfectly and show no seepage.

A pre-delivery technical inspection at our workshop will confirm overall readiness.

Engine / Transmission:

This example is fitted with a 1600 S (type 616/ 12 T6) Porsche engine developing 75hp.

It runs perfectly.

Road test and compression checks by our workshop confirm a healthy flat-four.

Starting is easy, with no smoke or suspicious noises.

Idle is stable and the engine stays cool.

When driving, power delivery and speed build smoothly with no hiccups.

Mechanical reliability is enhanced by the electronic ignition 123 IGNITION.

The 4-speed gearbox engages all gears smoothly, with good synchro performance.

Clutch grip is good; it was replaced in 2017 (invoice available).

As with many classic cars, the engine/ gearbox waterproofing remains average.
