Points to consider

The vehicle has been assessed and can be driven as is.

However, the following points should be taken into account:

The rear dampers currently fitted do not match the original configuration. The original dampers are supplied with the vehicle to allow it to be returned to a setup compatible with a “veteran” registration.

Vibration occurs at high speed. The cause is yet to be determined (balancing, drivetrain, or something else).

The speedometer indicates a higher speed than the actual one, and will need to be checked or adjusted.

Location

The car is available to view by appointment in Switzerland, Vevey-Montreux region.

When the Dolce Vita meets British rock

In the mid-1960s, Europe was going through a rare burst of energy. The Beatles and the Rolling Stones were changing music, while Italian-style Dolce Vita made the whole world dream.

It’s in this atmosphere that the Triumph TR4A IRS was born.

Designed by the famous Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti, this British sports car blends the elegance of Italian styling lines with the confident character of English roadsters.

Shown in 1965, the TR4A IRS represents a major evolution in the Triumph range with the adoption of independent rear suspension (Independent Rear Suspension), giving more refined road manners while keeping the driving pleasure that helped make the brand famous.

A TR4A with more chapters to write

This 1966 Triumph TR4A IRS has a configuration that continues to appeal to lovers of classic roadsters: a red body, a leather interior, and a very well-kept overall presentation.

Having been kept within the same family for around 15 years, it benefits from documented care since 2011, showing a clear desire to preserve the car over the years.

A genuine car that has lived through six decades

Assessed in October 2024, it can be driven as is.

Like any old car, it includes a few items a future owner may want to improve: returning to an original damper configuration, investigating the source of high-speed vibration, or having the speedometer checked.

These are all part of the normal approach of any enthusiast who wants to keep evolving and enjoying an older vehicle.

Built to be driven

This Triumph is ready for the road and doesn’t want to stay under a cover.

It reflects what many enthusiasts look for: an engaging car, with a tempting specification, a well-documented history, and that unique ability of British roadsters to create a direct connection between the driver and the road.

An invitation to rediscover the simple pleasure of a 1960s sports car—between elegance, character, and authenticity.
