1967 Fiat Dino 2000

First year of production, with the aluminium 2. 0 litre engine. Chassis # 2013.

Hopefully you can see how tidy the car is with a completely rust-free body. Originally an Italian market car imported in 1978, it was bought by me in 2017. All metalwork had already been corrected and the car was of MOT pass standard. I then fully stripped the car and had it painted in Azzurro Metallizzato exterior and the correct black engine bay and underside. The respray was in 2017 and the lustre remains in very nice condition. Mind you, the car has not seen bad weather since and is kept at home in a dehumidified garage. This is paired with a retrimmed beige interior using 2. 4 coupe seats [so as to have headrests]. The original seats come with the car but these would need to be renovated. Full new carpet set. All systems working with MOT history from 1996 confirming mileage.

The engine sounds good, having healthy compression, with service work carried out as necessary [valve clearances, carburettor tune, Dyno rolling road etc]. All bright trim is in good order. The wheels are new aluminium Superformance models in standard size, shod in correct new Michelin MXV-P, 185 R14 90H tyres. With a new IMASAF exhaust, springs and suspension/ steering bushes, the car looks good underneath too.

This car is always admired when it's out in the sunshine but frankly, it doesn't get used enough and I have only managed short coffee runs over the last couple of years [I have other work-in-progress projects that have taken my energy]. It represents a great useable car now, that needs more miles and airtime to keep it on-song. The interior trim is not standard as you can see, but I chose to augment the 60's look and enhance the style. If you should wish to take the car back to factory standard, it is all-possible and with the sound condition of the whole car, it would not be difficult. In my view, I have priced the car in anticipation of this.

This car was owned by Mike Elliot, the founder of Superformance, so it was treated well and nicely prepared. The connection is still there, as most spares have come from them. The car was featured in Classic Car Magazine in the 1980s, alongside his Dino Spider and I have this in the history file. I'd like the car to get more use, it deserves it and the public should see more Dinos on the road.
