We are pleased to offer this Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8, registered in 1967, in a particularly warm and elegant specification.

This BJ8 stands out above all for the quality of its presentation, as well as its history. Its current owner bought it 26 years ago and, in 2001, carried out a full restoration of the car. This complete, documented work—supported by an extensive photographic file and numerous invoices—covered all the key components: bodywork, chassis, engine, mechanical parts, transmission, the wiring loom, and the interior.

Since that restoration, the car has covered around 51, 500 km, which is proof of regular use and ongoing maintenance. So this is not a car that was merely restored and then left unused, but a proper Austin-Healey that has been built, maintained and enjoyed for driving.

The bodywork is in excellent condition. You can find all the BJ8’s characteristic details: the oval chrome grille, the long, sculpted bonnet with air intake, chrome bumpers, Phase 2 separate lights; on this model we also have the long-range lights and chromed wire wheels.

The interior received particular attention during the restoration. The cabin has been re-upholstered in leather, matched with burgundy carpets and a burgundy tonneau cover that complements the trim, creating a very refined atmosphere. The trimmer who redone the entire interior also made a bespoke leather centre armrest with built-in storage, perfectly integrated into the cabin.

The varnished walnut-veneered dashboard, typical of the latest BJ8s, is in very good condition and houses a complete set of instrumentation. The speedometer in km/ h is a real bonus for use in France. The period radio is still fitted, as is the Moto-Lita wood steering wheel, which matches the car’s ambience perfectly.

The overdrive control is integrated directly into the gear-lever knob, a particularly pleasant arrangement for driving. It makes it easy to use overdrive on the road without taking your hand off the lever, enhancing the enjoyment of driving this BJ8.

Under the bonnet, the 2, 912 cc straight-six provides all the character you expect from an Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III. During the 2001 restoration, the engine and the main mechanical components were refreshed as part of a complete, well-documented job. The car runs today in a very pleasing way, with supple, flexible mechanicals well suited to regular use.
