1966 Triumph TR4A IRS Overdrive

High specification TR4A IRS model in very good condition. I have owned this car since June 2019 having purchased if from the person who had restored it as his retirement project. The mileage is for its replacement engine made at that time. Since then in 2021/ 2 it has had further extensive improvement to the engine bay and roof.

Finished in Old English White, it has the familiar 2138cc Four Cylinder engine with Four Speed gearbox and Overdrive (to 3rd & 4th). It has a recently new distributor (by Distributor Doctor) and Petronix electronic ignition. There are the usual Twin SU carbs with individual K&N type Air Filters and a Malpassi Fuel Regulator. There is an Oil Cooler and oversized Radiator, with a front shroud to direct airflow from the grill. There is also a new Brake Servo unit. The Twin Exhaust is Stainless Steel. The battery was renewed in 2024.

The interior is red leather with white trim edging together with a new Walnut Veneer dashboard (with lockable glovebox) and matching door cappings. The boot is fully lined with tough grey carpeting and includes the spare wheel.

All wheels (including the spare) are stove-enamelled grey 72 spoke wires running Dunlop Sport SP 185/ 65 R15's all with new (2026) inner tubes.

A new mohair hood was added in 2022 by Aldridge's and a cover is included for when the hood is down. The aluminium windscreen header is new.

It has an added electrical terminal to power (for example) a dashcam.

The paintwork was recently (2026) refreshed and Raptor added to some underbody areas, although there remain some minor surface paint chips and some chrome loss to a bumper over-rider.

The car runs beautifully when warmed up, growling throatily, but not harshly, through the twin exhausts.

The car is in very good condition throughout and through my ownership has been equipped with many new parts so that it runs smoothly.

The car is currently having both master and slave clutch cylinders serviced which has offered the opportunity for the underbody photos now added.
