Porsche 356 B Carrera 2/ 2000 GS 1963 - Matching Numbers!

One of the rarest road-legal Porsche models of its era.

There are motorcars that have long since found their place in history. And there are motorcars that have written history.

The Porsche 356 Carrera 2 undoubtedly belongs to the latter category.

As the flagship model of the legendary 356 series, the Carrera combined everything that Porsche stands for to this day in the early 1960s: uncompromising engineering excellence, lightweight construction, motorsport DNA and driving dynamics that were far ahead of their time. Its meticulously engineered 2. 0-litre four-cylinder with shaft drive came directly from racing development around the famous Fuhrmann engine, a technical masterpiece whose manufacture was as demanding as it was costly.

Production figures remained correspondingly low. Today, the 356 Carrera 2 ranks among the most coveted and exclusive models in Porsche's entire history worldwide. Vehicles from this series rarely come onto the open market.

The coupé offered here from the 1963 model year presents itself in the rare and period-correct colour Condor Yellow, a shade that does justice to the elegant lines of the 356 in an extraordinary way. Particularly noteworthy is its documented matching numbers configuration: engine and chassis provably belong together – one of the most important quality hallmarks for discerning collectors.

Another highlight is represented by the original Carrera composite wheels with aluminium rim and steel hub. These technically sophisticated wheels were reserved exclusively for the most powerful Carrera models and are today among the most sought-after original components of the 356 series.

Also remarkable is the authentic overall character of this vehicle. Rather than being completely restored, this Carrera was allowed to preserve its history. The mechanics have already been extensively and expertly overhauled in the past, whilst the bodywork and appearance convey an honest, naturally aged character. A quality that experienced collectors today often value more highly than a flawless full restoration.

According to the available report, the Carrera engine installed in the vehicle is in good condition and has already been extensively serviced. Particularly pleasing: the original engine number matches the chassis number and confirms the authentic character of this extraordinary Porsche.

The Porsche 356 Carrera 2 is far more than an early sports car. It is a milestone in automotive history and today ranks among the most coveted air-cooled Porsches of all, with international demand and collector potential that has remained unbroken for years.

Opportunities to acquire such an authentic example arise only extremely rarely.
