1967 Renault 4L

Renault 4 Parisienne, 1967

I am selling this 1967 Renault 4 Parisienne due to lack of space in my garage and following a reduction in my car collection.

The "Parisienne" was a special series developed by Renault in collaboration with the women's magazine "ELLE", designed to appeal to a more feminine clientele. These little 4s featured a wicker-pattern print or, as on this example, a tartan print, applied by water-slide decal.

This print was extremely fragile and, despite a layer of varnish applied at the factory, it could not withstand UV rays or rain. This latter point was not favourable to Renault, but finding a Renault 4 Parisienne today, 60 years later, is nothing short of miraculous.

I carefully restored this example in 2009. The original tartan print has been preserved and enhanced using airbrush and water-slide decal techniques. This car therefore does not bear a reproduction sticker, but over 200 hours of manual work were devoted to its restoration to original specification. Every line, every detail is exactly where it should be.

The car has been restored whilst preserving its original patina as much as possible. It therefore shows some scratches and dents, which is normal after 60 years.

But with its 850 cc engine and 3-speed gearbox, it offers the most pleasant driving experience. On the road, you'll simply enjoy the comfort of the seats and the admiring glances.

Stored in a dark, dry garage, it could easily accompany you for another 60 years!
