« The car of distinction. »

In 1962, America was at the heart of the Jet Age, and nowhere was this more evident than in Detroit. Ford's answer took the form of the second year of production of the third generation Thunderbird, better known as the “Bullet Bird”.

But beneath this elegant body lay something far more interesting. For those seeking more than mere comfort, Ford offered the rare M-code performance option: a 390 cubic inch FE V8 fed not by one, nor two, but three Holley two-barrel carburettors. In 1962, that certainly wasn’t an option you ticked by accident.

This 1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible is presented in the iconic Tucson Yellow, paired with a black interior. Whitewall tyres complete the look perfectly.

Under the hood sits the highly sought-after 390 M-code V8 with its three Holley carburettor setup, making this car one of the most desirable and performance-oriented Thunderbirds of its model year.

And as if that weren’t enough, fewer than 200 examples were produced, making this Thunderbird extremely rare, even among enthusiasts of the model.

Where many classic American cars are mainly beautiful to look at, this example truly stands out for its mechanical condition. This Thunderbird has undergone a complete restoration, both mechanical and cosmetic, extensively documented over the years. Moreover, in the five years following its restoration, the car has benefited from thorough and rigorously documented maintenance, with a single aim: to make an exceptional automobile even better.

It also features a range of factory options particularly sought after, such as power steering, power brakes and electric windows — luxury equipment still far from common in the early 1960s. A few smart upgrades were also carried out, including a conversion to disc brakes, to further improve driving enjoyment and usability.

And perhaps the most beautiful flourish of all: the fully electric roof. With the press of a button, the roof disappears elegantly behind the rear seats. For 1962, this technology was spectacular — and honestly, it remains fascinating to watch today. Take a moment to enjoy it.

The result is a Thunderbird that captures all the Jet Age spirit, in one of its boldest colours and equipped with one of the most fascinating performance options Ford ever offered.
