1964 Alfa Romeo Gulia Spider

This is a very well presented and exceptionally well-sorted example of the Type 101 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider, finished in the highly desirable and romantic shade of Celeste Blue. DGW 335B was sourced from France, being driven over from the continent before being registered in the UK on the first of April 2017. Since arriving on British soil, this Type 101 Twin Cam has been carefully maintained, stored, and systematically enhanced by marquee specialists to ensure it remains a first-class driver’s car.

The history file and mechanical composition of this Spider are exemplary. At its heart sits a characterful 1, 597cc version of Alfa Romeo’s legendary long-lived twin-cam engine, paired with the highly sought-after 5-speed manual gearbox exclusive to the later Type 101 cars. In 2021, an extensive program of mechanical refinement was undertaken by a leading Alfa Romeo specialist. This comprehensive work included a full gearbox overhaul, replacing worn bearings, mountings, and synchromesh rings. Concurrently, the timing was adjusted, the twin carburettors tuned, and the front and rear axle oil seals renewed alongside fresh driveshaft bearings. The braking system was fully serviced and bled, and the suspension was completely refreshed with brand-new springs and dampers. During this suspension setup, the factory spacers were removed, lowering the car slightly to award this Giulia Spider a far more purposeful, commanding road stance. It has seen highly limited, fair-weather use since this major mechanical refresh.

Stepping inside reveals a wonderfully preserved, beautifully original cockpit. The original dark blue leather seats remain in very good condition, having recently been re-sprung to offer excellent support, and are complemented by a set of premium carpets and Alfa Romeo-branded rubber overmats. The body-coloured Celeste Blue dashboard presents in excellent condition, housing a stunning array of original Veglia dials and a freshly replaced rev-counter drive unit. Framed by original door cards, the interior is completed by a beautiful classic three-spoke Alfa Romeo steering wheel with its original centre horn boss. Ready for its next keeper, this is an incredibly tight, mechanically sorted, and visually stunning classic that effortlessly captures 'la dolce vita'.
