1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider 1600 — YKJ 102A

Offered for sale after almost two decades in the same enthusiast ownership, this is one of the coveted left-hand-drive Tipo 101. 23 Giulia Spiders — the model that gave Pininfarina’s celebrated open two-seater body the engine it always deserved. Alfa Romeo’s 1, 570cc twin-cam four and five-speed all-synchromesh gearbox were sophistication virtually unheard of in an early-Sixties sports car, good for around 109 mph, with the trademark bonnet air scoop marking the Giulia out from its smaller-engined Giulietta sibling. Fewer than 10, 000 Giulia Spiders were built before the 101-series gave way to the Duetto in 1965.

The car is presented in its evocative Light Blue over a tan leather interior, with a black hood and discreetly fitted seat belts for modern usability — the result of a complete bare-metal restoration by renowned classic Alfa specialist Titus Rowlandson of Victory Garage, completed in 2016 and detailed under Vehicle History below. It retains its original Alfa Romeo identification plate confirming Tipo 101. 23 specification (Approvazione IGM 2673 OM).

Since completion the Spider has formed part of a small, garaged private collection in North London — maintained by Victory Garage, comprehensively insured on a collector policy, and protected by a Thatcham-accredited tracking and immobiliser system fitted in 2016 and subscribed ever since. It is UK-registered on its age-related 1963 registration, YKJ 102A, MOT-exempt and taxed in the historic vehicle class.

This is a beautifully restored, long-owned and highly usable Giulia Spider — eligible for the great touring events, welcomed on any concours lawn, and ready to deliver the twin-cam soundtrack that made Alfa Romeo’s reputation. Left-hand drive opens the door to Continental touring and export anywhere in the world. Viewing welcomed by appointment, North London.

Guide: £54, 950 — offers invited.

This car’s story is the kind every classified promises and few deliver — and it is documented from start to finish.

Purchased by the current owner in the autumn of 2006 from Sarasota, Florida, the car was shipped from the Port of Miami with its original American titles and imported to the UK as a long-term restoration project. The 2006 bill of sale and purchase correspondence remain in the history file.

In 2014 the car was entrusted to Titus Rowlandson of Victory Garage — one of Britain’s most respected classic Alfa Romeo restoration specialists — for a complete, no-expense-spared rebuild. Over eighteen months the car was fully dismantled and the body media-blasted to bare metal, then professionally repaired and repainted in Light Blue. While the shell was restored, every mechanical area was rebuilt in turn — engine, suspension, steering, brakes and drivetrain — with the brightwork restored, new glass fitted, and a parts-sourcing trip to Italy undertaken for correct components. The interior was retrimmed in tan leather to seats and door cards, complemented by a new black hood. The work was photographed extensively throughout, and the photographic record accompanies the car together with the Victory Garage invoices and correspondence.

The finished car passed its MOT in March 2016 — ‘and drove well too’, in the restorer’s words — and was UK-registered the following month, with the odometer reading 91, 655 miles at completion. Since then it has been kept garaged in North London, maintained by Victory Garage, and used sparingly. The owner is a long-standing Alfa Romeo Owners Club member, and the car has been kept lightly and correctly maintained — most recently with parts supplied by marque specialists Classic Alfa in January 2026.

Summary of the history file: 2006 Florida bill of sale and import correspondence; Victory Garage restoration invoices and extensive photographic record (2014–16); MOT certificates; maintenance and parts invoices to 2026.
