Beschrijving

An evocation of a 1930’s 6C racing Alfa from the era when Enzo Ferrari ran their racing team (hence the stickers).

Based on a Triumph Vitesse chassis with a sweet sounding 2 litre straight six.

Hilarious to drive - very loud and surprisingly quick.

Old number plate and many other pre war appendages enhance the appearance and she comes with a spare wheel, full tonneau and tax disc dated April fool’s day!

Current MoT

Built in the 1990’s by a Reggie Croysdill, a WW2 pilot and racing driver using a stretched Vitesse chassis, a GRP tub and an aluminium louvred bonnet. He built it for his wife and they drove it to France where they lived. Then it was found abandoned by his godson who bought it, brought it back to England and restored it. I’ve done further work making it look older, easier to drive and fully road legal - it comes with an MoT.

This from the previous owner:

Built by Reg Croysdill in the early 1990's. Reg (W. R Croysdill - but known as Reg to his friends) was a pilot in the war. After the war he raced cars - predominantly Lester MG's and Rileys with some success according to Motorsport Magazines archives. When he retired in the 90's after a lifetime of boat building and engineering he decided to build a car along the lines of the cars he had raced all those years ago.

So here we have the results. He actually built 3. One for a client, one for himself and one for his wife Boo. This was her car. Her name is on the log book. The whereabouts of the others are unknown.

The car came into my possession when I visited Reg (my godfather) in Carcasonne when I was on my way to Africa on a motorbike in 2000. I really fell for the look of the car, and he wasn't driving her as his knees had started to play up. A deal was done. On my return to the UK I flew down and drove the car home. I have a nice newspaper clip (Salisbury Times) showing Reg with the two cars and an interview with him about his imminent emigration to the South of France together with the hand written bill of sale to me from Vera, his wife - or Boo to all who knew her.

The car was built on an extended Triumph Vitesse chassis. It has the 2 litre 6 engine on Strombergs' mated to a 4 speed box. The rest of the mechanicals / suspension is Vitesse so easy to maintain. The body was handmade by Reg fibreglass with an aluminium bonnet. Boatbuilding skills coming in handy! The car weighs about 700 kg's with pretty even weight distribution and is pretty quick off the mark.

The car had a major refurbishment by Specialists in 2009. Bills for about 4K. I had her re-trimmed a couple of years back and had the head converted to run on unleaded. I also carried out an alternator conversion and fitted electronic ignition.

If I had to describe the condition of the car I would call her really nicely patinated. She looks the part and has the feel of a well campaigned motor car. She has a few war wounds - but they add rather than detract to the overall aura - in my opinion.

I've had a great time with the car. She's easy to live with and a hoot to drive and we've been on many adventures together. Classic Le Mans and Prescott being among the most memorable. I am 6'2" and after a few modifications can fit in easily.

I am really sorry to see her go and I know I'll never find another. But I've just finished building a new house and am stone broke so she has to go.
