MGB roadster 1964 (pull door handle model )genuine 72, 800 miles, current owner 36 years with extensive history

After 36 happy years it’s time to part with Arthur .

I bought him in 1990 from the wife of an AA mechanic who had fully restored the car over a number of years , he was one of just 4 previous owners and the millage was guaranteed to be correct .

I have every receipt and mot from my 36 yrs of ownership .

The car runs superbly and is mechanically superb having been maintained with no expense spared throughout my ownership which includes much proactive preventative maintenance

In the last month after detecting the car was running hot I have run through the car systematically flushing the system fitting new top and bottom hoses , thermostat hosing , water pump , new radiator (both from MGOC). Ironically I think it was a blocked heater box but certainly no issues now . Also had two new 6 V batteries.

In the last 250 miles (but over several years) I’ve had new shock absorbers all round , trailing arms new brakes/ callipers , head gasket , carb rebuild all again have been proactive preventative work

It drives superbly the engine is very responsive, smooth and the steering and suspension tight . When the head came off some years ago everything looked very new and I think that validates the excellent engine rebuild of 1988 which was only 5000 miles ago.

The interior is excellent and original with just the right amount of patina and everything works , the soft top is in good order and fits well

While it’s MOT exempt I’ve just MOT’d it for peace of mine and had no advisories .

Bodily it presents well and is bright and looks great in British racing green. It’s certainly isn’t perfect , it has various blemishes as would be expected be expected in a small amount of surface roast on bottom edges shown in photos but that would be easy to remedy and it’s very solid throughout and with the recent works ready to enjoy and not worry.

Soft Top is in good condition and fits well immobiliser tap fitted in boot for security

The car has its original registration 831 RBM I was hoping this would stay with the car as it has over 62 yrs but this could be removed by negotiation and the price reduced .

Reg transfers value this at 2750 but clearly its value is what someone will pay and it might take some time to achieve near the reg valuation

Price £9750 or £8000 with the plate removed and an age related plate provided. This process will take 2-4 wks.
