1968 Fiat 850 Moretti Sportiva

Hello, for sale a super rare Moretti Sportiva , year 1968. It was estimated that approximatively 300 units were made, from which 52 were out of the S2 version. Less than 50 cars estimated to still survive, of which many lost their original parts over time.

The car has been awarded the FIVA jury prize at the first event it was displayed in June 2026 out of 200+ classics. .

This rare Moretti has gone through a nut and bolt restoration where everything was taken apart, cleaned, plated, painted etc. Nothing was left on the body, everything was inspected, rebuilt or replaced as per needs.

The body has been sandblasted and gone over with new old stock floor boards, every affected area welded to a high standard.

The drive train has received a lot of new parts including tie rods bearings bushings shocks and everything else needed.

The motor got new bearings, water pump rebuilt cylinder head and everything else that needed repair or rebuild.

The interior was redone in genuine leather in cream/ black as it was originally sold new.

The chrome was done in the triple chrome plating in Hungary, 15 years warranty from a renown chrome shop.

Currently, the Moretti has French documents and invoices and contracts in my name.

I bought this car for its superb lines and for the rarity of it. Very interesting details like VIN number written on panels and stamped on chrome parts made this car a wonderful piece of automotive history.

Being assembled manually and the body built also manually, it retains a number of flaws that only hand built models still retain. It was lead filled on seams, still showing careful welds on the outer panes. The inside welds are crude and lack the outside careful touch, but that is what these cars are about. You can see how the outer body was chiseled off and bent so that the new parts can be fitted. It's amazing how such a small car can provide an insight on pure Italian coachbuilding craftmanship.

While performing bodywork I discovered signs of paint configuration for a race car, with green and metallic blue on the roof. Also in the front it had holes for the Cibie Boule headlights, which leads me to believe it was used as a race car in its past. it has had a number of crashes and brazed repaired areas, also the exhaust was hand built for racing purposes.

Unfortunately the history of the racing period is lost to time, but all of the above would make a wonderful discussion thread at every car meeting.
